What are cookies? Why do we use them?

When a visitor comes to our site, a small file is stored on their computer that allows us to recognize them on future visits, which, in turn, avoids the need to repeatedly collect the same information. This makes our site easier for repeat visitors to use. We also use "session cookies" that are automatically deleted after each visit. Due to the unique cookie naming conventions we employ, our cookies cannot be read by other websites. Most browsers will accept cookies unless you change your browser settings to refuse them. The functionality of our site will not be affected if you choose not to allow cookies.

How do we protect your information?

Your private personal information, such as that collected during a purchase, is only collected from our secure pages. Throughout the World Wide Web, secure pages are identified by the prefix, https://, whereas non-secure pages use the prefix, http://. Credit card and other payment information is collected only by our third-party payment providers, PayPal and Authorize.net. Both of these providers are universally recognized as the most secure and trustworthy merchant account providers on the net. Optimum Optics is not privy to this information. The information that we do collect is stored only in encrypted form. We follow reasonable technical and management practices to help protect the confidentiality, security and integrity of data stored on our system. Although no computer system can be completely secure, we believe that we have implemented the protective measures appropriate to the type of data involved.

How long do we keep your information?

We keep user data on our server or in our archives for as long as we believe the information may be useful, or as may be legally required. Information posted in a public forum could stay in the public domain indefinitely. Data management requests are administered in an orderly manner to the extent feasible and within our direct control.
